6. SPORT for LIFE LESSONS

Nothing teaches our kids invaluable life lessons like sport does. How to be a good team mate, the importance of being coachable, the benefit of a developing a strong work ethic And most of all building resilience – learning how to handle and bounce back from losing big games, not being selected for a team, dealing with difficult team mates or coming back from an injury.

They will develop much stronger character through learning from all these experiences. But we must always remember – shielding our kids from setbacks and failures in sport is the worst possible thing we can do for them.

Instead we must teach them that every experience is a learning experience. The harder they try, the more they practice – the better athlete and person they’ll become.
