This is by far the most important thing you can ever say to our young athletes after they have played – I loved watching you play. Even though they might not say it (especially teenage boys!), they love it when you are there watching them play and they’re quietly desperate to make their parents proud.
And, remember some young athletes are arguably more anxious about feeling like they’ve let you down too!
So especially on those days when they don’t perform at the best, or the ball just simply go their way, make sure you express even more about how much you loved watching them play.
After all, win or lose, whether they played well or not….it’s just a game!
